Climate change and drought are taking a toll on pinyon pine and juniper woodlands, especially in the southwestern U.S.  Dr. Miranda Redmond, an assistant professor at Colorado State University, has researched this ecosystem. She is this week’s Naturalist Nights speaker and talked with KDNK’s Amy Hadden Marsh about the pinyon pine and why it’s disappearing. Dr. Miranda Redmond will be at Carbondale’s Third Street Center Wednesday at 5:30 PM.

Kevin Corwin is chairperson of the Colorado Bluebird Project with Denver’s Audubon Society. He’s this week’s Naturalist Night speaker in Carbondale and Aspen. Here, he talks to KDNK’s Amy Hadden Marsh about the Bluebird Project, bluebird resilience, and why he loves birds. Tonight's event begins at 5:30 at Carbondale's Third Street Center. It's free and open to the public.


This year’s Naturalist Nights begin tonight, featuring Dr. John Hausdoerffer, Executive Director of the Center for Environment & Sustainability at Western State Colorado University in Gunnison. Hausdoerffer recently co-edited a collection of essays titled Wildness: Relations of People and Place with Gavin Van Horn and takes a contemporary look at wildness with KDNK’s Amy Hadden Marsh.
