  • Town of Carbondale is shutting off water today from 8AM to 4PM for a water line repair. The outage will effect Main Court, Cooper Place and a small section of Main Street. More info at  970-963-3140.

  • The Deck the Halls Holiday Show continues at R2 Gallery inside the Launchpad from 9AM to 5PM. Carbondale Arts is offering unique gift ideas created by local and regional artists.

  • Anderson Ranch Arts Center continues its exhibition called Reflections on Synthetic Action all day.

  • The next Free Legal Clinic for those without an attorney for civil matters is today at Basalt Library from 3:30 to 5PM. Assistance is available first-come first-served.

  • From 4 to 5PM, Basalt Library hosts a Marble Mazes maker space for drop-by after school.

  • Josefina Mendez performs live jazz at the Limelight Hotel in Aspen at 4:30.

  • At 6:30, Glenwood Springs High School and Middle School hosts their winter choir concert at the Jeannie Miller Theatre inside Glenwood Springs High School on Grand Avenue.

  • Also at 6:30, the Riviera Supper Club in Glenwood presents Holiday Music live on the piano.

  • And here in Carbondale at 6:30, the Women's Support & Empowerment Group meets at Janet Gordon Counseling on Village Road.

  • At 7:30, the Mindful Life Program hosts Monday Mindfulness group meditation at Carbndale’s Third Street Center.

  • The Swedish film A Man Called Ove continues at Carbondale’s Crystal Theatre at 7:30.

Looking ahead…

  • Tomorrow, the White River National Forest invites the public to an open house to discuss new proposed Snowmass summer recreation projects near Elk Camp including a mountain coaster, a canopy tour and zip line, and ropes challenge course. The meeting will be held from 4 to 7PM at the Treehouse Kids Adventure Center in Snowmass Village.

  • The Isaacson School for New Media at Colorado Mountain College presents a photography portfolio review at 4:30 in the Calaway building on the Spring Valley campus.

  • And Aspen Institute’s Community Forum for Transportation and Mobility hosts a public talk on reimagining creative transportation solutions at the Wheeler Opera House tomorrow at 5:30.

 
 

Gavin became one of the youngest station managers in public radio on February 1, 2017. He is a writer and producer with a passion for community media. Prior to starting at KDNK as news director in 2016, Gavin worked for national radio programs Alternative Radio with David Barsamian and Nonprofit Radio with Tony Martignetti along with local stations KGNU Boulder, KYRS Spokane, KRBX Boise, KAOS Olympia, and Air America Radio affiliate KPTK Seattle. His nonprofit management experience includes Open Media Foundation, where he led a government transparency team, and Common Frequency, where his policy advocacy supported dozens of noncommercial radio startups. Boulder Weekly, Raw Story, Austin American-Statesman, Boise Weekly, and The Sopris Sun have published his reporting. His TV credits include directing teams at Colorado Channel, crewing for Democracy Now!, and hosting on Free Speech TV. He graduated from the Evergreen State College in 2008 with a BA in media production and community organizing.
