The General Manager at KDNK leads the staff, leads income generation and budget management, and bears primary responsibility for station operations. The General Manager develops strategy and policy with and reports to the Board of Directors.

Tania Dibbs is a former ski instructor turned full time professional artist with a local and national following. Tania lives and works in the Roaring Fork Valley, where she continues to pursue a career as an artist, developing her craft with the support of galleries and collectors around the country. Her organic, landscape inspired works range between painting, sculpture and encaustic pieces.

The geeks do the Monster Mash and it is a graveyard smash.

Jörg Schmalian is the head of the Institute for Theory of Condensed Matter at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology where he leads a research group working on strongly correlated electron systems and complex quantum matter interested in understanding new materials with novel electric, optic, magnetic or thermal properties. Before moving to Germany, he was a full professor at Iowa State University and Senior Scientist at the Department of Energy Ames Laboratory. On this month's show, he talks to students from local high schools.

Amy's guests today are Andrea Palm-Porter of Roaring Fork Leadership and Jenny Lindsay, executive director of the Family Resource Center of the Roaring Fork School District.

Mike Cruse is the father of a new baby. His daughter Olivia was born in July. But like most fathers in the U.S., he doesn't get paid parental leave. That means his wife, Stephanie, will have to take care of the baby mostly herself — an already difficult task that may be even harder for her since she's dealing with postpartum anxiety.

Cruse, who manages the warehouse for a lighting company, had to take vacation days from his job to stay home and help for those first 10 days. Now he has no vacation left for the next calendar year.
