A Republican House leader is facing a backlash from his own caucus for sponsoring a bill that would allow law enforcement and family members to get a court order to temporarily remove a person’s guns if that person poses a danger. The so-called "red flag" measure cleared the House Judiciary committee on Tuesday night along party lines.

Carbondale Middle School was among schools across the county and the country that staged a 17-minute walk-out Wednesday to honor the 17 victims of last month's shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida. Senate Republicans have passed a bill that would allow Coloradans who already have a handgun to conceal carry without a permit. It passed along party lines and will soon be debated in the Democratic-controlled House where it’s future is more uncertain.


Garfield County Sheriff Lou Valario’s live Facebook video, Just the Facts, posted on Monday, got over 6,000 views, more than any of his previous videos. It was a response to Friday’s school shooting in Parkland, Florida and was more opinion than fact. KDNK’s Amy Hadden Marsh has more.
