Jeremiah Hutchens

Dance Initiative is producing a film intended for state representatives showcasing in a blend of artistic medium the inherent role of wild places for human sanity. Choreographer Deborah Colley spoke with KDNK's Raleigh Burleigh about the performance, captured by Jeremiah Hutchens. More information about the project is available here, tickets to an upcoming showcase, August 25 & 26, are available here.

Carbondale Arts

Dance Initiative is sponsoring a residency the week of May 22 to May 27, for two special guests. KDNK’s Raleigh Burleigh spoke with professional performer Marielis Garcia who, along with David Norsworthy of Toronto, Canada, will be co-leading two community dance workshops at the Launchpad. The artists seek to choreograph an essential "snap-shot" of Carbondale to weave into a larger, internationally-inspired creative endeavor. Registration is at danceinitiative.org.

Chris Hassig and Sarah Uhl are local artists showing in the Valley Visual Arts Show which hangs at the Launchpad until February 17. They visited Express Yourself to talk about their pieces in the show, their creative processes, and their artistic futures. And Peter Gilbert of Dance Initiative describes the newest DI residency next week involving  the New York dancer Christiana Axelsen.
