CDale Police Chief Gene Schilling on the Valley's Recent Bank Robberies

May 8, 2012
CDale Police Chief Gene Schilling on the Valley's Recent Bank Robberies On May 4th, the Roaring Fork Valley saw a third bank robbery in as many months.

Following the robbery of US Bank in Glenwood Springs on April 27th, and the robbery of Vectra Bank in El Jebel in March, area police are adding Carbondale's Wells Fargo Bank to the list.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, 150 pounds... wearing dark sunglasses, a long sleeve gray shirt, gray pants, black shoes, and possibly a long straight black wig and fake mustache.

According to Carbondale Police, the suspect entered the bank just before closing time at 4 p.m. when five employees and one customer were present. The suspect used a handgun to threaten the customer and employees and forced them behind the counter and onto their knees. The suspect then tied their hands behind their backs, before leaving the bank in a vehicle stolen from an employee.

KDNK's Eric Skalac spoke to Carbondale police chief Gene Schilling Monday for an update on the robbery and to ask about the recent spate of bank robberies up and down the Valley.
