Here’s your community calendar for the weekend of August 12, underwritten by the Mount Sopris Rotary Club, meeting every Thursday at noon at Mi Casita in Carbondale. Rotary: Service above self. Click the headline for today's events, like a showing of the film Dolores at Aspen Institute on Sunday.

  • The Glenwood Springs Farmers Market begins at 8am in the Rite Aid parking lot and there’s a summer block party at 8th and Grand from noon until 8pm.

  • The Temporary in Basalt presents The Play-Ground Theatre, for all ages, at 3.

  • New Castle Library hosts a lecture about the solar eclipse at 5.

  • The Big Sick shows at the Crystal Theatre at 5, Dunkirk shows at 7:30.

  • Emotional Rescue, a Rolling Stones Tribute Band, performs at Redstone Park at 6.

  • Aspen Music Festival students perform at the Carbondale Library at 6.

  • Aspen Art Museum hosts acapella with Take 6 at 7 and at 9:15.

  • Steve’s Guitars welcomes Trevor and Sylvie Wheetman at 8:30.

  • Chris Voth does comedy at The Temporary in Basalt at 7.

  • David Spade stands-up at Belly Up Aspen at 7 and at 10:30

  • Leadville’s Tabor Opera House presents Lend Me a Tenor at 7.

  • E.T. screens in Lions Park in Basalt at 8:30.

  • And Gaslight Street plays at the Black Nugget at 9:30.

  • And The Town of Carbondale with Steve’s Guitars present Rosewood Divine and Pearl & Wood opening for The Deer from Austin, Texas from 4 to 7. KDNK will broadcast the concert live.

Raleigh Burleigh was raised in the historic floodplanes of Satank. The Carbondale Rotary Club sponsored him as a youth ambassador to Chile the year before his graduation from Roaring Fork High School. He studied International Affairs and Journalism at the University of Colorado, Boulder then applied those studies traveling throughout South America the following year. Returning to Carbondale thereafter, Raleigh acquired an internship with KDNK News which led to the opportunity to serve as News Director from 2017 to 2019. After another trip to South America in early 2019, Raleigh Burleigh drew deeper into the confluence as Program Director at KDNK. Raleigh now serves on KDNK's board of directors and as editor of Carbondale's weekly newspaper, The Sopris Sun.
