Time for the KDNK Community Calendar for Thursday, May 11th, underwritten by the Mount Sopris Rotary Club, meeting every Thursday at noon at Mi Casita in Carbondale. Rotary: Service above self. Click the headline for listings, including performances by Lookout Mountain Showdown, Alex Culberth, Chatham Countyline, Bonobo, and more.

  • At 3:30, the Basalt Library hosts a Mario Kart tournament. Technically it’s for grades 5 and up so nothing says that grown-ups can’t duke it out with the youngsters too.

  • The Basalt Regional Library hosts a Free Legal Help Clinic at 4 and Citizenship Test Prep at 4:30.

  • Lookout Mountain Showdown plays the Gypsy Wagon at Marble Distilling in Carbondale at 5.

  • Aspen Country Day School presents How Music Can Change Your Brain at 5:30.

  • Aspen Screen Writers and Playwrights meet at the Pitkin County Library at 5:45.

  • The KDNK Community Advisory Board meets at the station to discuss our programming, mission and policies at 6. The public is welcome to attend.

  • The Logan Brothers Lounge in Glenwood Springs hosts Thursday Night Rides, with mountain biking and music, at 6.

  • Carbondale Planning and Zoning Commission meets at 7.

  • Alex Culbreth performs at Grove’s Black Dog Saloon in New Castle at 7.

  • Aspen Blackbox Theater showcases Pop! A Spring Cabaret performed by local teens at 7.

  • The Glenwood Vaudeville Revue presents American Bluegrass with Chatham Countyline at 7:30.

  • The Lost City of Z screens at the Crystal Theatre at 7:30.

  • Bonobo performs at Belly Up Aspen tonight at 9:30.

Looking ahead…

  • Tomorrow at 5:30, American Renewable Energy Institute hosts a movie screening to kickoff Dandelion Day, featuring environmentally-themed documentaries at Marble Distilling.

  • Tomorrow at 6, The Carbondale Community Oven outside the 3rd Street Center will be baking pizza. All are welcome, ingredient donations are encouraged.

  • And Saturday is Dandelion Day in Carbondale. The Parade of the Species departs at 10am from 2nd and Main st. and the opening ceremony at the gazebo in Sopris Park is at 10:30. There’ll be food and vendors and educational presentations and live music from 11AM to 5PM. KDNK’s beer tent will feature selections from Roaring Fork Beer Company, Black Bridge Winery and dandelion-infused vodka from Marble Distilling and the proceeds will benefit your community radio station.
