  • Today is the deadline to apply as a food vendor for Mountain Fair. Applications are available at carbondalearts.com or at the Launchpad.

  • Carbondale Homeless Assistance presents a free community lunch at Faith Lutheran Church today from 11:30 to 1 for anyone in need of a hot meal.

  • The Glenwood Valley Athletics All Star Cheer showcase jump kicks into Glenwood High School’s Jeannie Miller Theater at 4.

  • Dennis Jung and Damian Smith play the Red Onion in Aspen at 4.

  • The Wheeler Opera House presents Casa Manana’s national touring production of A Year With Frog and Toad for children and adults at 5.

  • Cory Henry Revival perform at The Little Nell, with doors opening at 6.

  • Glenwood Vaudeville Revue hosts dinner theatre at 6.

  • Tonight at 7, Glenwood Springs Contra Dance is back at the Glenwood Masonic Lodge from 7 to 10 for an all ages community dance with live old time music and a caller teaching and calling the dances.

Looking ahead…

  • From now through April 22nd, the New Castle and Parachute Branch Libraries will collect new and gently-used stuffed animals to go to Stuffed Animals for Emergencies. SAFE gives them to police, fire & rescue, hospitals, and other organizations who hand them out to kids to help reduce stress. The New Castle Library has more information at 984-2346.

  • On Sunday, Paonia-based folk musician Ellen Stapenhorst performs at Aspen Chapel at 7.

  • Don’t miss the Andy Zanca Youth Empowerment Program’s fundraiser, the Let it Be Spelling Bee, coming up at the Roaring Fork Beer Company, Wednesday April 5th.

  • And ACLU Colorado executive director Nathan Woodliff-Stanley will speak at Carbondale Public Library next Saturday April 8th. KDNK will interview him this coming week so stay tuned.

Gavin became one of the youngest station managers in public radio on February 1, 2017. He is a writer and producer with a passion for community media. Prior to starting at KDNK as news director in 2016, Gavin worked for national radio programs Alternative Radio with David Barsamian and Nonprofit Radio with Tony Martignetti along with local stations KGNU Boulder, KYRS Spokane, KRBX Boise, KAOS Olympia, and Air America Radio affiliate KPTK Seattle. His nonprofit management experience includes Open Media Foundation, where he led a government transparency team, and Common Frequency, where his policy advocacy supported dozens of noncommercial radio startups. Boulder Weekly, Raw Story, Austin American-Statesman, Boise Weekly, and The Sopris Sun have published his reporting. His TV credits include directing teams at Colorado Channel, crewing for Democracy Now!, and hosting on Free Speech TV. He graduated from the Evergreen State College in 2008 with a BA in media production and community organizing.
