  • The City of Glenwood Springs sponsors a household hazardous waste and paint drop-off event at the Glenwood Community Center from 8:30am to 2. Call 945 5375 to make an appointment.

  • The Alice March for Science meets in the parking-lot of the Goat Restaurant in Carbondale at 10am.

  • The 5Point Film Festival hosts a number of events around Carbondale, including an Ice Cream Social at the Rec Center from 12:30 to 2:00 and bluegrass on 4th Street at 1:30. Check out 5pointfilm.org/festival for the full event schedule.

  • Protect Our Winters meets at noon at Paepcke Park in Aspen followed by the March for Science at Paepcke Park at 1.

  • The City of Glenwood Springs hosts an Earth Day celebration in Centennial Park from noon to 5 and CMC Leadville offers activities from 1 to 4 at their timberline campus.

  • The Mount Sopris Theatre Company presents One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest at the CMC Spring Valley Campus first at 2pm and later at 7:00.

  • C.A.R.E hosts Yoga with Cats Saturday at 2:15 and 3:30. Space is limited, reserve a spot by calling C.A.R.E at 970 947 9173.

  • A United Kingdom screens at the Crystal Theatre in Carbondale at 5.

  • Raccoon Fight plays bluegrass at the Phat Thai Restaurant in Carbondale at 5.

  • The St. Stephen Catholic School’s Spring Gala, Masquerade Ball fundraiser begins at 6. Tickets are available by calling 945 7746.

  • The Black Dog’s late 1800s-themed Saloon Soiree begins at 7 in New Castle.

  • The Zoo Keeper’s Wife screens at the Crystal Theatre at 7:30.

  • Stone Deaf play the Loyal Brothers Lounge in Glenwood Springs at 8.

  • Sunfeathr and Mattie B jam at Steve’s Guitars in Carbondale at 9.

  • Next 2 the Tracks perform at the Black Nugget at 9.

  • And South of France with Modern Leisure play Belly Up Aspen with no cover at 9:30.

Looking ahead…

  • On Sunday, a bluegrass jam session is hosted by the Glenwood Springs Brew Garden at 6:30.

  • And on Monday, the City of Glenwood Springs holds a public meeting on downtown paid parking at Town Hall from 6 to 8PM.

Raleigh Burleigh was raised in the historic floodplanes of Satank. The Carbondale Rotary Club sponsored him as a youth ambassador to Chile the year before his graduation from Roaring Fork High School. He studied International Affairs and Journalism at the University of Colorado, Boulder then applied those studies traveling throughout South America the following year. Returning to Carbondale thereafter, Raleigh acquired an internship with KDNK News which led to the opportunity to serve as News Director from 2017 to 2019. After another trip to South America in early 2019, Raleigh Burleigh drew deeper into the confluence as Program Director at KDNK. Raleigh now serves on KDNK's board of directors and as editor of Carbondale's weekly newspaper, The Sopris Sun.
