Many Roaring Fork Valley residents have noticed smoke on the horizon today. Kate Jerman, public affairs officer for White River National Forest, spoke with KDNK’s Gavin Dahl to explain why there is nothing to worry about.
Firefighters conducted West Divide prescribed fire operations Thursday, April 26th and Friday, April 27th. Smoke may be visible from Rifle to New Castle on the I-70 corridor and also from the Roaring Fork Valley. The prescribed fire will reduce hazardous fuels accumulation and create new forage for big game habitat.
