  • Backbone Media and the 5Point Film Festival host Point of View, a discussion with adventure film industry experts at Backbone Media in Carbondale at 2:00.

  • The opening reception for The Mountains Are Calling, an exhibition with the 5point Film Festival, begins at the Launchpad at 4:30.

  • A rally gathers in front of the Hotel Colorado in Glenwood from 5 to 7 to demand that Senator Gardner host a public Town Hall.

  • Akron, presented by Aspen Film and AspenOUT, screens at the Crystal at 5:15.

  • CMC’s 50th Anniversary holds an opening art reception at the Rifle Campus at 6:30.

  • Robert Karp and Lloyd Nelson lecture on Biodynamic Agriculture at the Waldorf School at 6:30.

  • The Sopris Theatre Company presents One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest at CMC’s Spring Valley Campus at 7.

  • The Zookeeper’s Wife opens at the Crystal at 7:30.

  • Tom Ressel plays at the Marble Distillery at 8.

  • Zepperella, an all-female Led Zepplin Tribute Band, plays the Belly Up at 9.

  • And the Davenports perform at the Black Nugget at 9:30.

Looking ahead…

  • Saturday is Earth Day! Activities include: the annual Fryingpan River Cleanup, meeting at 8:30 AM at Lions Park in Basalt and a household hazardous waste drop off event sponsored by the City of Glenwood Springs from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m at the Glenwood Community Center. All drop-offs are accepted by appointment only. Call 945 5375 or visit the city’s website for more information.  

  • The Alice March for Science meets at 10 AM in the parking-lot of the Goat Restaurant in Carbondale on Saturday.

  • State Representatives Millie Hamner and Diane Mitsch Bush along with Senator Kerry Donovan hold a joint town hall meeting at the Basalt Library from 11am to noon.

  • Protect Our Winters meets at noon at Paepcke Park in Aspen followed by a March for Science at Paepcke Park at 1.

  • The City of Glenwood Springs hosts an Earth Day celebration in Centennial Park from noon to 5 and CMC Leadville offers activities from 1 to 4.

  • C.A.R.E hosts Yoga with Cats Saturday at 2:15 and 3:30. Space is limited, reserve a spot by calling C.A.R.E at 947 9173.

  • On Monday, the City of Glenwood Springs holds a public meeting on downtown paid parking at Town Hall from 6 to 8PM.
