Friday Calendar March 10th

The KDNK Community Calendar is underwritten by the Mount Sopris Rotary Club, meeting every Thursday at noon at Mi Casita in Carbondale. Rotary: Service Above Self. Click on the headline for events such as Thunder River Theatre's final performances of The Tempest, tonight and Saturday at 7:30.

  • On KDNK's Express Yourself at 4, Luke interviews musician Rodney Crowell plus Punch Brothers banjoist Noam Pikelny performs.
  • The Basalt Library presents a Teen Art Bar at 3:30 and a performance of Appalachian Spring at 5:30.

  • The Third Street Center presents Himalayan Yogini Yoga at 4.
  • Cooper Corner Gallery at 315 8th Street in Glenwood Springs hosts a reception for local artist Arlene Law at 5.
  • The Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts presents Battle of the Walls, featuring art work by local high-school students, beginning at 5:30.
  • Fences with Denzel Washington and Viola Davis opens tonight at the Crystal at 7:30
  • Aspen 440 plays Heathers in Basalt tonight.
  • Green is the New Black Fashion Show is sold out but the party afterwards is not. In fact, it's free and open to the public at 403 Main Street, beginning at 10. And, a trunk sale begins at the Carbondale Rec Center at 10 right after the show.
  • Thunder River Theatre Company presents two more performances of The Tempest tonight and tomorrow night at 7:30 in Carbondale.
  • The Leonard Curry Trio plays Rivers Restaurant in GWS at 9.

Looking ahead…

  • Tune in Sunday from 5 to 6 PM for KDNK’s Journalist Roundtable. Brent Gardner-Smith of Aspen Journalism, Sopris Sun editor Will Grandbois and Post Independent features editor Carla Jean Whitley join Gavin Dahl and Amy Hadden Marsh for a conversation about local issues.
  • KDNK’s full moon, cross-country ski event with Mt. Sopris Nordic Council has been canceled.
