Crystal Valley Trail: Where's the Best Place to Put It?

AH Marsh photo

Last year, the Carbondale-to-Crested Butte Trail was placed on a list of 16 priority trails as part of Governor John Hickenlooper’s Colorado the Beautiful Initiative. Part of that trail would go up the Crystal River valley to the top of McClure Pass. Wilderness Workshop hired biologist Rick Thompson to study the impacts of possible Crystal Valley trail routes on local wildlife. Thompson presented the results of his study this week at two meetings, one of which was at Carbondale’s Third Street Center Tuesday night. KDNK’s Amy Hadden Marsh has this report. You can find Thompson's study and a video of the presentation by clicking here.
