Community Calendar for October 5, 2016

The Community Calendar on KDNK is underwritten by the Mount Sopris Rotary Club, meeting every Thursday at noon at Mi Casita in Carbondale. Information at M T Sopris Rotary Club dot com. Rotary: Service above self.

  • Lulu Lemon in Aspen hosts a “Summit for Life” kickoff party, starting at 4. Attendees can meet the Chris Klug Foundation team members, who will be running the NYC Marathon next month.

  • From 5 to 8, Aspen NextGen and Aspen Young Professionals Association host an event called “From Trump's Hair to County Commissioners: Election 2016” at the Limelight Hotel in Aspen. You can learn about state and local ballot initiatives, meet the candidates, and get registered to vote.

  • At 5:30, CMC in Carbondale hosts Death and Coffee Cafe. You can join the conversation about end of life planning and fear of death with chaplain Sean Jeung and RN Barbara Bush.

  • The Third Street Center hosts weekly Dharma Talks at 5:30.

  • Also at 5:30, Midvalley Green Drinks meets at DHM Design in Carbondale.

  • The Book Report Club” meets at the Basalt Library from 6 to 7. No required books; bring what you are reading.

  • Heather’s in Basalt has Suzzanne Paris at 6:30.

  • Certified Mindfulness Facilitator Lisa Goddard guides participants in the practice of cultivating mindfulness through meditation, yoga and the felt senses of the body at The Launchpad in Carbondale from 7:30 to 9.

  • Intuit” brings rootsy grooves to Belly Up Aspen from 9 to 11.

  • And at Justice Snow’s, Tjaar brings the jams, starting at 9.

Looking ahead…

  • Everyone is welcome to join the Andy Zanca Youth Empowerment Program on First Friday, October 7th from 6-8 pm for a potluck and picnic table dedication in KDNK’s backyard. The dedication is at 6:30 p.m. Bring a potluck dish to share if you like. Students in the Andy Zanca Youth Empowerment Program raised money to purchase the table and donate it to KDNK in memory of Andy Zanca.
