Interview: DUI offenders grow, treatment working?

The percentage of repeat DUI offenders in Basalt is more than double the state average. Despite court-ordered interlock devices, mandated treatment that can last a year or more, and expensive legal fees and insurance rates, people continue to drive after drinking. Is the DUI deterrent system a failure? In this edition of Valley Voices, Amy Hadden Marsh discusses the issue with special guests: Sergeant Stu Curry of the Basalt Police, Robyn Starr who's director of Addictive Behavior Counseling in Glenwood Springs, and Terry Shanahan who is a probation officer for the 9th Judicial District.
