Lauren Pierce, executive director of the Chris Klug Foundation, spoke with KDNK news director Gavin Dahl live in studio this morning about the nonprofit's work advocating for more valley residents to sign up as organ and tissue donors. Lauren previously worked for the Wheeler Opera House and is a longtime supporter of KDNK.

Wednesday evening's Nonprofit Spotlight featured Lori Mueller, executive director of YouthZone. With four decades of experience, YouthZone is focused on providing opportunities for youth to be responsible, contributing members of society and work with their families and community toward this end. She talked with KDNK's Amy Hadden Marsh.


Thousands of people have gathered at the Sacred Stone Camp on the northeastern edge of the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation near Cannon Ball, North Dakota to stop a pipeline that would carry crude oil underneath the Missouri River, east to Indiana. Over the weekend, a confrontation between protesters and private security guards from the pipeline company turned violent. KDNK's Amy Hadden Marsh reports.

On Tuesday's Nonprofit Spotlight, Stacy Stein (co-director of the Andy Zanca Youth Empowerment Program) interviewed John Klonowski, program director of Challenge Aspen Military Opportunities. CAMO provides adaptive therapeutic recreation and wellness experiences. John told Stacy he recently started listening to KDNK and he is "thrilled with the discovery. Supporting a local radio station is a great thing."
